Curriculum, Teaching and Learning
• Leading on all issues relating to the strategy, planning, management and delivery of further Education, such as:
- Programmes, courses and qualifications;
- Learning resources and libraries;
- Research and advanced scholarly activity;
- Establishing and maintaining clear lines of responsibility in respect of such issues.

Ensuring that the College curriculum:
• Meets statutory requirements and the needs of its stakeholders;
• Is academically and financially viable and consistent with College objectives, funding, learner recruitment targets and measures for success;
• Is directed towards raising skills levels in the College’s geographical area of benefit and across the Group;
• Is innovative, inspiring and entrepreneurial, and prepares students to succeed and progress;
• Embraces the concept and realities of employability;
• is supported by the most effective range of qualifications;
• Is delivered in a manner which is coherent, effective and efficient.

Promoting the development of teaching and learning, including their quality and enhancement, across the range of provision associated with the College, and ensuring that:
• Internal targets and performance metrics are met or exceeded;
• External reporting and inspection regimes are addressed successfully;
• There is continuous development of quality control around teaching and learning and development, supporting academic managers to manage the assessment of learning;


Financial Responsibilities
• Principal is responsible for establishing and maintaining clear lines of financial responsibility and reporting;
• To approve financial systems operating across all academic and associated support areas and activities;
• Providing the GM - Finance with such information as may be required to enable compilation of the College’s financial statements; implementation of financial planning; implementation of audit and financial reviews, projects and value for money studies. • recruitment of home/EU and international students to meet income targets; • ensuring the efficacy of income generating activity. Student Relations Ensuring the quality of the student experience at the College, including: • Student Perception of Course Surveys and other measures of student satisfaction; • student representation, including liaison with the Students’ Union; • equality and diversity issues; • safeguarding of children and the protection of vulnerable adults; • any other specific campus issues in respect of students in conjunction with the Group CEO and Group Chief Operating Officer; maintaining student discipline and within the College’s rules and procedures, suspending or expelling students on disciplinary grounds of expelling students for academic reasons. Staffing The Principal shall have management responsibility for the FE-aligned academic and associated support staff, with immediate line management responsibility for the Vice Principal.Ensure the corporate mission and strategic direction of the college is clear, understood and embraced by staff and students.
• To focus the College’s efforts on raising the quality of education to generate year on year improvements in results.
• To ensure the range of courses delivered by the College are directed towards raising skills levels of the students.
• To ensure the curriculum is innovative, inspiring and entrepreneurial, and prepares students to succeed and progress.
• To empower students to be pro-active participants in their learning and to use student feedback to support quality improvement.
• To ensure a curriculum that meets statutory requirements, and the college’s education vision.
• To oversee the College’s general financial management.
• To ensure the continued solvency and good financial health of the College.
• Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior.
• Manage, evaluate and supervise effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the institution including instructional programmes, extra curricular activities, discipline, systems to ensure a safe and orderly climate, building maintenance, program evaluation, personnel management, office operations, and emergency procedures.
• Establish the annual master schedule for instructional programs, ensuring sequential learning experiences for students consistent with institution’s philosophy, mission statement and instructional goals.
• Supervise the instructional programs of the institution, evaluating lesson plans, and observing classes on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and student growth and development.
• Establish procedures for evaluation and selection of instructional material and equipment, approving all recommendations.
• Supervise in a fair and consistent manner effective discipline and attendance systems with high standards, consistent with the philosophy, values, and mission of the institution.
• Ensure a safe, orderly environment that encourages students to take responsibility for behavior and creates high morale among staff and students.
• Establish a professional rapport with students and with staff that has their respect. Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents and school personnel.
• Serve as a role model for students, dressing professionally, demonstrating the importance and relevance of learning, accepting responsibility, and demonstrating pride in the education profession.
• Keep the staff informed and seek ideas for the improvement of the institution.
• Conduct meetings, as necessary, for the proper functioning of the institution.
• Communicate regularly with parents, seeking their support and advice, so as to create a cooperative relationship to support the student in the institution.
